Here's a new way to get customers to love your brand more- give them your stocks. That feeling of ownership causes consumers to spend more with you, talk more about you, and become brand champions. Use the current mania in retail investing and fractional shares and try it.
Cool thoughts and I agree this is a great way to build loyalty and expand a sense of ownership in consumer companies (and leverage the excitement of monetary gains related to investing in individual stocks) with relatively low costs and overall effort of the parent company. I am sure I am oversimplifying the transaction but I see the shift to corporate stock buybacks as a big miss when options like this could increase your brand loyalty and create a larger sense of ownership even within your company.
I really like this idea! I think the framing of when it works vs. not makes sense. I wonder if there could be different approaches within the same company. For example, I think the traditional loyalty program at airlines works fairly well for regular business travelers, but if you aren’t flying more than a few times per year, it doesn’t make sense to choose one carrier. A program like this could make sense for those traveling some, but not all the time.
